The first solo ride to Van Wyksdorp will be a memorable day indeed. It was the first ever ride on a South African gravel road with ‘Chilli-pit’. The cloud formations was incredible on that day. Turning onto the gravel road, solo, did create a few anxious moments but once we were on the move all was forgotten and I was mesmerized by this extraordinary world that was unfolding before me mile after mile. Arriving at Van Wyksdorp I had another surprise! I stopped at the ‘Van Wyksdorp Mall’ and the first sight was a beautiful decorated building which had an outside seating area. I sat down and ordered a ‘Koffie’ which came with ‘Beskuit’ which is a traditional South African breakfast replacement. The host became close friends since that day and for many years to come I will return to Van Wyksdorp Mall for ‘Koffie en Beskuit’!
